National social security website “Sodra”

The National Social Security Portal, “Sodra,” is one of Lithuania’s most visited government websites. It serves as a central resource for residents navigating pensions, insurance, benefits, and contributions.

Our task was to reimagine the public-facing website bringing structure, clarity, and dignity to a system that supports people throughout their lives.

We approached the project as a civic design challenge: to make critical services more accessible, understandable, and humane, without compromising institutional authority.

The website had to address a wide range of users—individuals nearing retirement, parents applying for benefits, self-employed workers navigating contributions, and more.

We began by mapping key user journeys, identifying bottlenecks, and reorganizing the site’s content architecture to reflect how people actually search for and act on information.

We created a visual and interaction system that favors clarity over decoration. The new design balances trust and accessibility. Institutional, but never cold. Simple, but not simplistic.

The frontend was built to meet the latest accessibility standards and integrate smoothly with existing government infrastructure. We ensured content remains legible across devices, navigation is intuitive, and performance holds up under high-traffic loads.

Rather than design for a single moment, we developed a modular layout system that can evolve. As policies, user needs, or service categories shift, new content blocks and pages can be introduced without breaking consistency. This foundation allows internal teams to manage updates efficiently and expand the platform sustainably.

The result is a clear, future-proof digital platform that reframes how the state communicates with its people—respectfully, transparently, and accessibly. It transforms “Sodra” from a bureaucratic portal into a more human, helpful presence in daily life.
